Naysmith adamant country will be supporting Hearts

Gary Naysmith, a Scottish Cup winner with Hearts in 1998, believes that 39 of 
Scotland’s 42 senior clubs will be hoping that Craig Levein’s side prevail when they meet Celtic in Saturday’s final of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Paulo Sergio walked under the cover of darkness on Sunday night, the way he prefers it when he returns to Edinburgh. Like a character in a film noir with the collar of his jacket upturned and cigarette smoke billowing, few might immediately recognise him as the last Hearts manager to win the Scottish Cup.

Hearts post-match: Teenage kicks in Scottish Cup final dress rehearsal

Teenagers from both clubs glistened on trophy day at Parkhead as Hearts and Celtic prepared for the Scottish Cup final with what almost became an exhibition game. The imminent meeting at Hampden Park between these two clubs dictated neither could show their hand yesterday, thus some prodigious youngsters on both sides got worthwhile first-team experience.

Hearts’ performance at Parkhead showed Craig Levein can trust his young players

Craig Levein has shown throughout his managerial career that he isn’t afraid to give youth a chance to shine in the first team. He’s very much in the ‘if they’re good enough, they’re old enough’ to start camp. That said, his hand has been forced more than he would have liked this season due to a lengthy, bordering on calamitous, injury list the club has had to contend with.
