Celtic’s Champions League journey continues this evening as they head to the Midlands to face Aston Villa in their final League Phase game.
A last 16 play-off spot has already been secured thanks to last week’s 1-0 win over Young Boys, however, Brendan Rodgers’ side could still qualify for the knockouts automatically if other results go their way tonight, and they pick up a win at Villa Park.
Several players have turned out for both clubs, with the last player transferred between Celtic and Aston Villa being current Hoops goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, who switched clubs in July last year. However, the success rate of players transferred between the club ranges from sublime to the ridiculous, with club legends, cult heroes, TV hosts, constructions workers and completely forgettable signings all included.
But how many of these 19 players that have featured for both clubs can you remember?

11. Paul Elliott
The popular defender with Aston Villa during the mid 1980s, talented English centre-back moved to Celtic Park in 1989 following a short stint at Pisa in Italy, and won the Scottish Footballer of the Year award in 1991 - his final season for the club. His impressive performances for the Hoops saw him attract the attention of Chelsea, who paid £1.4million to prize him away from Celtic. Just a year after his move to Stamford Bridge, he sustained a serious knee injury after a challenge from Liverpool's Dean Saunders and was forced to retire just two years later. He later filed a lawsuit against Saunders seeking damages for the career-ending injury. Elliott was awarded an MBE for his work with young players and his involvement with anti-racism initiatives in football in 2003. | Getty Images Photo: Getty Images

12. Aleksandar Tonev
One of the more random names from both club's past, the Bulgarian midfielder struggled to make an impact at either club. He featured just six times for Celtic after joining the club on loan from Aston Villa after being handed a seven-match ban for "using abusive language of a racist nature" in a game against Aberdeen. While the club appealed the decision, as they believed him to be innocent, the appeal wasn't successful and he rarely featured for the club again. Now retired, Tonev works in the construction business. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group Sammy Turner
