Shetland is back for a brand new series, with the usual cast of suspects - sorry, actors - set to star.
Returning for its tenth series, the acclaimed BBC murder-mystery drama is shaking things up by setting the new episodes within the fictional village of Lunniswick.
Following the murder of a retired social worker, DI Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh and DI Ruth Calder - played by Alison O’Donnell and Ashley Jensen, respectively - travel to the remote hamlet to investigate, where they encounter a host of new characters living within close-knit community. As they begin to unravel exactly what happened, long-buried secrets begin to emerge, with unexpected consequences for everyone - including the team.
With so many new faces being introduced, the Shetland series 10 guest cast includes Greg McHugh, Ellie Haddington and Clive Russell, who is one of several actors playing a new role after a previous appearance on the show.
Speaking about working with the “incredible” actors on board this season, Jensen said: “One of the things I love about this show is the calibre of guest actors we get. This is season ten and we’re still getting huge names to come along.”
She added: “It was also wonderful to work with the next generation of actors who had little or no TV experience. With Shetland, there is no such thing as a small part and I’m always delighted to see new faces on the show.”
Here is the full cast of Shetland Series 10, from regulars to guest stars.

17. Stephen McMillan as David Powell
Pictured here behind the scenes of 2023 TV series Boiling Point, Stephen McMillan plays the "painfully shy, lacking in confidence and easily influenced" David Powell in Shetland Series 10. Having just been released from an 18-month prison sentence for housebreaking, he has been living with his mum Gina in the village. As for where you may have seen him before, the Dundee-born actor has appeared in the aforementioned Boiling Point series - as well as the 2021 film - BBC miniseries The North Water, Netflix show Toxic Town and folk horror film Harvest. | BBC / Boiling Point TV Limited / James Stack

18. Stuart Townsend as Edward ‘Ed’ Tulloch
Irish actor Stuart Townsend plays Edward ‘Ed’ Tulloch in Shetland series 10, the estranged son of the victim. Described as "handsome and charming" he catches the eye of DI Calder, despite his clear grief and regret about his mother. Townsend may best be recognised from his role as Lestat in the 2002 film adaptation of Queen of the Damned, as well as shows such as Will & Grace, Betrayal, Salem and more. | BBC/Silverprint Films/Jamie Simpson

19. Saskia Ashdown as Hayley Burnett
Edinburgh actress Saskia Ashdown is best known for roles in shows including Karen Pirie, The Rig , Only Child, Six Four, and more.
