Shetland is back for a brand new series, with the usual cast of suspects - sorry, actors - set to star.
Returning for its tenth series, the acclaimed BBC murder-mystery drama is shaking things up by setting the new episodes within the fictional village of Lunniswick.
Following the murder of a retired social worker, DI Alison ‘Tosh’ McIntosh and DI Ruth Calder - played by Alison O’Donnell and Ashley Jensen, respectively - travel to the remote hamlet to investigate, where they encounter a host of new characters living within close-knit community. As they begin to unravel exactly what happened, long-buried secrets begin to emerge, with unexpected consequences for everyone - including the team.
With so many new faces being introduced, the Shetland series 10 guest cast includes Greg McHugh, Ellie Haddington and Clive Russell, who is one of several actors playing a new role after a previous appearance on the show.
Speaking about working with the “incredible” actors on board this season, Jensen said: “One of the things I love about this show is the calibre of guest actors we get. This is season ten and we’re still getting huge names to come along.”
She added: “It was also wonderful to work with the next generation of actors who had little or no TV experience. With Shetland, there is no such thing as a small part and I’m always delighted to see new faces on the show.”
Here is the full cast of Shetland Series 10, from regulars to guest stars.

9. Eubha Akilade as PC Lorna Burns

10. Clive Russell as Arthur Mair
Clive Russell is an iconic Scottish actor in his own right, with roles in The Witcher, Outlander, Game of Thrones... and Shetland? Yes, Russell has appeared on the show before - as Adam Markham in series 2, to be exact - but his series 10 return is an entirely different role altogether. In the new season of Shetland, he plays Arthur Mair a local resident who was born and bred on the island. Having spent much of his life working on oil rigs, he values family with a particularly close relationship to his granddaughter Jess while he is the sole caretaker of his wife Lana, who has vascular dementia. As for roles Russell has coming up, he will place an iconic character in series 2 of Netflix's One Piece adaptation next year. | BBC/Silverprint Films/Jamie Simpson

11. Ellie Haddington as Lana Mair
Lana Mair is played by Ellie Haddington whose real Aberdeen roots are reflected in her Shetland character who moved to the island when she met her husband. A close friend of Eadie Tulloch, the murder victim, she was a warm person before losing her son Ally more than two decades previous. She has developed dementia in recent years, relying on support form her family. Audiences may recognise her from a variety of roles including 2021 film Operation Mincemeat, 2022 sitcom Motherland and BBC thriller series Guilt. Haddington also was on Coronation Street for more than 100 episodes as Josie Clark between 1995 and 1996. | BBC/Silverprint Films/Jamie Simpson

12. Leigh Biagi as Morag McCabe
After ten series, audiences will finally get to meet the wife of Billy McCabe. Played by Leigh Biagi, Morag McCabe knew the victim having worked alongside her in social services. Despite this being the first time she will appear on screen, Howden described Biagi as "incredible". He said: "We didn't know each other before this series but we hit it off right away. I think we look like a longstanding couple!" Audiences may recognise Biagi from The Lost King, Neds or, again, Shetland which she appeared on during series two as Anna Blake. Fans should also keep their eye out as she will appear in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein as Mother Superior. | BBC/Silverprint Films/Robert Periera Hind
