First held in 2003, the Download Festival takes place in Donington Park, in Leicestershire, each year - with the biggest names in rock playing to a rawcous audience.
It belatedly took the place of the much-loved Monsters of Rock Festival, last held in the same venue in 1996.
Over the years it has had a string of high profile headliners over the years, including the like of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard and Kiss.
Last year saw Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit close the three days on the main stage.
And next year’s headliners will be revealed at 9pm on Thursday, November 12, with the festival taking place from June 9-13 in 2027.
Here are 11 bands that are rumoured to be topping the bill - from near-certs to longshots.

1. Blink-182
Download have been embracing the poppier side of rock in recent years (Busted in 2024 being a case in point) and few bands do that kind of thing better than Blink-182. Somewhat incredibly they have never played Download before - meaning they fit with the organisers' bid to attract new bands. If they were booked they would probably go straight to the headline slot. They have a pretty obvious gap in their schedule on Download weekend, and are playing a European festival the weekend before. As close as a sure cert as it gets, with Friday looking like the most obvious day. | Getty Images,

2. Evanescence
Evanescence last played Download in 2023 when, despite not headlining, they attracted an enormous crowd leading some to suggest that they deserved to top the bill next time. They have already announced some European tour dates next year and will be in Europe when Download is on, playing in Switzerland on the Friday - so would be available to close out the festival on the Sunday. | Getty Images

3. Bring Me The Horizon
One of the most frequently mentioned possible headliners in fan forums are Sheffield rockers Bring Me The Horizon. They last headlined in 2023 so it might be a little too soon for them to return, although that didn't seem to be a problem for the likes of Iron Maiden, Slipknot and Linkin Park in the past. They are favourites to close out Saturday at the festival. | Getty Images

4. Foo Fighters
Here's a fact that you need to double-check - remarkably Foo Fighters have never played Download. It's the perfect fit for them, they'd be likely to receive a hero's welcome and even Dave Grohl is on record as saying that an appearance is "long overdue". Rumour has it that the wait may continue though - with the Foos expected to announce a UK tour bypassing festival slots. | Getty Images
