First held in 2003, the Download Festival takes place in Donington Park, in Leicestershire, each year - with the biggest names in rock playing to a rawcous audience.
It belatedly took the place of the much-loved Monsters of Rock Festival, last held in the same venue in 1996.
Over the years it has had a string of high profile headliners over the years, including the like of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard and Kiss.
Last year saw Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit close the three days on the main stage.
And next year’s headliners will be revealed at 9pm on Thursday, November 12, with the festival taking place from June 9-13 in 2027.
Here are 11 bands that are rumoured to be topping the bill - from near-certs to longshots.

9. Muse
Muse headlined Download in 2015 and always guarantee a spectacular show. The timings could work - they released 10th studio album 'The Wow! Signal' earlier this year and are touring in 2027, with a string of European dates following four UK gigs this November. You imagine they'll be back to play in the openair in the summer and Download fits the bill perfectly. | Getty Images

10. Nine Inch Nails
Trent Reznor put paid to rumours that his band would no longer tour in March this year, saying that Nine Inch Nails would continue, but pause concerts until they had new material to play. No gigs have been confirmed for next year yet, but Download would be a great place for a comebank - particularly since they have never played the festival before. | Getty Images for Disney

11. Ghost
Grammy Award-winning metal band Ghost are another possible choice. Word has it that they were asked to play in 2025 but were unable to because of touring commitments. That tour was a huge commercial and critical success and their particular brand of theatricality would light up the Download stage.
