First held in 2003, the Download Festival takes place in Donington Park, in Leicestershire, each year - with the biggest names in rock playing to a rawcous audience.
It belatedly took the place of the much-loved Monsters of Rock Festival, last held in the same venue in 1996.
Over the years it has had a string of high profile headliners over the years, including the like of Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Metallica, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard and Kiss.
Last year saw Guns N' Roses, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit close the three days on the main stage.
And next year’s headliners will be revealed at 9pm on Thursday, November 12, with the festival taking place from June 9-13 in 2027.
Here are 11 bands that are rumoured to be topping the bill - from near-certs to longshots.

5. Faith No More
Faith No More have announced that they'll be in Europe next year to headline the Rock For People festival in Czechia. They would be warmly welcomed back to Download, where they headlined during their last live comeback in 2009. It's 'Easy' to see them playing. | AFP via Getty Images

6. Turnstile
There's been no shortage of discussion online as to whether American hardcore band Turnstile are big enough to headline Download. Anybody who has seen them live would confirm that they certainly have the energy to command a big festival crowd (they crushed their set at last year's Glastonbury), but perhaps it'll take a couple more years for them to get the gig. | Getty Images

7. Deftones
Strong rumours that Deftones would play Download in the last couple of years came to nothing, so maybe 2027 will be different. They've spent much of the last year touring well-received new album in 'Private Music' and few would complain about seeing them on the bill. | AFP via Getty Images

8. System of a Down
System of a Down are two-time Download headliners, most recently in 2017. They were due to play for a third time at the 2020 festival that was cancelled due to the global pandemic, so are overdue their headlining hat-trick. They have announced gigs in Brazil, New Zealand and Australia for next January and may well be looking to hit Europe in the summer. | Getty Images for ABA
