It was a contrasting end to the campaign for both Rangers and Celtic, as the Hoops rode off into the sunset with a domestic double to leave Philippe Clement’s Gers contemplating a summer of change.
However, despite Celtic’s success, both sides are likely to be busy this summer, with the Hoops targeting reinforcements due to Joe Hart’s retirement and the potential departure of the sought-after Matt O’Riley.
Money will be spent this summer, of that there is no doubt, but could both Rangers and Celtic save themselves some coin by scouring the free agent market? We look at 11 out of contract players that could be useful additions to both Old Firm sides.

5. Ben Gibson - Norwich City
The Canaries confirmed the 31-year-old centre-back would depart the club following their play-off loss to Leeds United. Signed for £15million by Burnley in 2018, Gibson featured 37 times at Carrow Road this season as they finished in sixth position in the English Championship. 6. John Egan - Sheffield United
The Sheffield United captain was forced to watch the majority of his team's season from the sidelines last year after suffering an Achilles injury. Capped 36 times by Republic Of Ireland, Egan is a real leader that has made his way to the top of the game through sheer determination and hard work. It looks like his contract won't be extended this summer as the Bramall Lane side adjust to the realities of relegation. 7. Liam Cooper - Leeds United
Another centre-back that offers leadership and experience in abundance. Set to depart Elland Road this summer, the 32-year-old Scotland defender could view a move to Scottish Premiership favourably as he looks to stay in the international fold. 8. Aaron Connolly - Hull City
It can be easy to forget that Connolly is still just 24. Released by big-spending Hull City this summer, he bagged eight goals in 30 games last year. He showed his potential in flashes playing for Brighton in the English Premier League only a few seasons ago, so with regular game time and a little bit of confidence, Connolly could be a smart free-transfer option. | Ryan Hiscott/Getty Images Photo: Ryan Hiscott/Getty Images
