Taking place on Thursday, Christmas Jumper Day helps raise money for Save the Children.

This week marks Christmas Jumper Day 2025, with schools, workplaces and communities all getting ready to take part.

The annual fundraising event for Save the Children asks people around the UK to donate what they can afford to help support young people and their families.

Now in its fourteenth year, Christmas Jumper Day has helped raise more than £40 million to transform the lives of children both in the UK and around the world.

Here’s everything you need to know about Christmas Jumper Day 2025 - including when it is and how you can take part.

When is Christmas Jumper Day 2025?

The official date for Christmas Jumper Day in 2025 is Thursday, December 11.

However, Save the Children has said it is perfectly fine to host the fundraiser whenever best suits.

What is Christmas Jumper Day?

Christmas Jumper Day is an annual fundraising event for Save the Children.

The charity supports children in more than 100 countries – including the UK – to make sure they are safe, healthy and learning.

In 2024, the campaign raised £2.8 million, which is the equivalent of 280,00 supermarket vouchers to help feed children in the UK, 1,400,000 million packets of drought resistant seeds to help families in Kenya deal with climate change, as well as 77,777 kits to help care for newborn babies in Gaza.

Since the first Christmas Jumper Day in 2012, the charity has raised more than £40 million to help children.

Do I need a new jumper?

Anyone can take part in Christmas Jumper Day, whether you’re at school, work or home.

All you need to do is don an appropriately festive jumper, with Save the Children even encouraging you to swap with your friends, explore your local charity shops or even craft your own out of items you already have.

This year, a number of famous faces including Suranne Jones, Zawe Ashton, Angela Griffin, Josh Widdicombe, Sam Thompson, Pete Wicks, Alison Hammond and many, many more are backing the fundraising campaign to encourage people to wear their favourite festive second-hand finds.

How can I sign up for Xmas Jumper Day 2025?

To register for the event you do have to be over-18, but all that means is a parent, guardian or teacher can sign up instead. And if you’re flying solo, that’s also not an issue. You could even set up a fundraising page and gather some sponsors.

To sign up you just need to head over to Save the Children’s website.

If you haven’t signed up it is also not a problem, it just means that you won’t have access to their free resource packs. You can just pay in your fundraising using the online form, leaving the reference section blank.

And for those who use a JustGiving page, this will automatically be sent to the charity.

Do I need to donate £2?

While there is a suggested minimum £2 donation, the charity do say you should donate more or less if you need to.

As per their website: “We know these are tough times and it’s totally fine if you can’t donate – you’ll still be a massive part of the day!”
