Scotland is a country blessed with incredible walks taking in amazing landscapes - from rugged coastal paths and mountain trails, to glorious glens and lush woodland.
There’s never a bad time to go for a hike, but autumn can be a pretty magical time in our country.
The summer crowds of tourists have left for another year, the trees are turning a million shades of yellow, red and orange, and it’s the best time to spot some of our most elusive wildlife.
We asked our army of readers to suggest the best spots for an autumn stroll and they did not disappoint - coming up with a wide range of suggestions, from the Borders to the Highland - and from short walks to epic adventures.
Here are 15 of the best.

5. Pitlochry
Pitlochry is a town surrounded by some of the best hillwalking in Scotland. A favourite walk is to follow the River Tummell, taking in Pitlochry Dam with its salmon river, Pitlochry Festival Theatre (who do a great line in cakes) and Blair Athol Distillery. | Canva/Getty Images

6. Big Burn Walk
Located just outside Golspie, Big Burn Walk is a favourite with Scotsman readers. Taking around an hour and a half, it zigzags to and fro over Golspie Burn through a verdent forested gorge to a spectacular waterfall. | Canva/Getty Images

7. Rothiemurchus Forest
Located a short drive south of the resort town of Aviemore is Rothiemurchus Forest - a remnant of the ancient Caledonian Forest sitting within the Cairngorms National Park. It's a great place to see some of Scotland's rarest wildlife, including osprey, capercaillie, and European wildcat. There's also a massively picturesque ruined 14th-century castle on a small island in Loch an Eilein. | Canva/Getty Images

8. Kyle of Tongue
Walks don't get much northerly than the coastal walk starting at the Kyle of Tongue, on the famous North Coast 500 driving route. Our reders recommend heading west from the Kyle, taking in "the breaking waves of the Atlantic, incredible beaches and glorious views". The best bit about going there in autumn?
