'Scotland's Winter Table' road trip launches - combining ‘exceptional’ dining and luxury accommodation

A Scottish adventure travel company has launched a new self-drive culinary journey ideal for food and drink lovers.

Perth-based adventure travel company, Nomadic Scotland, has launched a new five-day self-drive culinary journey through the Highlands and Islands this winter, partnering for the first time with The Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye, The Pierhouse Hotel in Port Appin, and Grandtully Hotel by Ballintaggart in Perthshire.

‘Scotland's Winter Table' combines exceptional dining and luxury stays at three of Scotland's most renowned hospitality destinations with the freedom of exploring the country's winter landscapes from behind the wheel of a new model Land Rover Defender 110.

Guests will be delivered their Defender in Edinburgh or Glasgow and follow a route designed by Nomadic Scotland through Highland Perthshire, the Argyll coast and on to Skye, with curated stops, local producers and scenic detours along the way.

The package includes four nights' accommodation, dinners at each property, Defender hire, a route guide and Nomadic Scotland's support throughout the trip.

Matt Rio Green, founder of Nomadic Scotland, said: “Winter is when Scotland is at its most dramatic, with empty roads, snow on the hills and kitchens cooking with the very best of the season.

“We’ve created ‘Scotland's Winter Table' to bring together three tables we'd happily cross the country for and link them with some of the finest drives in the Highlands.

“The journey is as much a part of the experience as the dinner. At its heart, the journey is a celebration of place, seasonality and craftsmanship, and of the stories that connect Scotland's landscapes with the producers, chefs and communities who bring them to life.”

Brett Davidge, managing director of The Wee Hotel Company, which owns at The Three Chimneys on the Isle of Skye and The Pierhouse Hotel at Port Appin in Argyll, said: “We're really excited to be partnering with the team at Nomadic Scotland for the first time this winter.

“As the dark winter nights draw in, we're already preparing heart-warming menus and plumping up the pillows for weary travellers in search of a seasonally snug, wee winter getaway on Skye and the Argyll coast.

“At both of our venues, there is an emphasis on real authenticity, the magic of Scottish food and ingredients and a warm welcome.

“The dark winter skies on the Isle of Skye and Argyll coast also offer some of Scotland’s finest star-gazing opportunities, as well as the chance for some lucky visitors to witness the Northern Lights.”

'Scotland's Winter Table' is available from November 2026 to March 2027, priced from £1,950 per person based on two sharing. Prices vary with availability.
