It’s going to be a huge summer gig.

Winner of the Critics Choice Award at the Brit Awards and named in the BBC’s Sound of 2018 list before even releasing an album, Sam Fender has enjoyed a speedy journey to music stardom.

His debut Hypersonic Missiles were straight to number one, as did his sophomore effort Seventeen Going Under, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

He’s become known for his electric live performances, which saw him bag a headline slot at the TRNSMT music festival in 2023.

Now he’s preparing to release third album, People Watching, and has just announced an Edinburgh date where he’ll be playing new material along with songs from his first two albums.

When is Sam Fender playing Scotland?

Sam Fender will be playing Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Showgrounds venue as part of the Summer Sessions series of gigs on Friday, August 22.

Doors to the concert will open at 5pm.

Are there any age restrictions at the Sam Fender concert?

The gig is over-12s only, with those aged under 16 having to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 21.

Who is supporting Sam Fender in Edinburgh?

Support at the gig will come courtesy of Olivia Dean. The English soul singer was selected at BBC Music Introducing’s Artist of the Year in 2023 when she released her debut album Messy.

When do tickets for the Sam Fender Edinburgh gig go on sale?

Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 21, at 10am. You can find them at Ticketmaster here, or Gigs in Scotland here.

Make sure you are signed up and signed in to your account well in advance before attempting to get a ticket.

Are there any presales for the Sam Fender Edinburgh gig?

As has become traditional there are a while host of presales to let you grab tickets before they go on general sale.

There’s a fan presale happening from 11am on Tuesday, February 18. Just register to join the Sam Fender Social Club here to get a presale code sent to you.

If you sign up to the Summer Sessions website here, you’ll get access to tickets from 10am on Wednesday, February 19.

Those signed up to Gigs in Scotland here will also get access to tickets from 9am on Thursday, February 13, as will people signed up to Ticketmaster here. Once again, if you are signed up you should get a code emailed to you that will let you access tickets a day early.

The ticket prices have not yet been revealed - watch this space. However, judging by similar concerts expect to pay somewhere between £50 and £65 for a ticket.
