The 20-year-old, who started his career at Celtic before joining Chelsea, was supposed to go on trial on Wednesday after allegedly being caught driving an £80,000 Porsche while banned.

The trial was also set to hear allegations of Feruz’s attempts to pervert the court of justice after it was claimed he told police that his name was Saeed Cabadalla, on September 9 last year.

Feruz, who spent six months on loan at Hibernian last season and has also had spells at Blackpool and Greek club OFI Crete, is also said to be facing another charge of driving without insurance.

Glasgow’s Justice of the Peace Court was informed that the Somalia-born footballer was not at court because he was training in Tanzania.

Sheriff Frances McCartney has now granted a warrant for Feruz’s arrest.
