Motherwell vs Celtic injury news: 7 out as Brendan Rodgers mulls over debut with key man returning

Here is the latest team news ahead of Motherwell v Celtic in the Scottish Premiership at Fir Park on Sunday.

Celtic will look to maintain their commanding lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership when they visit managerless Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday (kick off: 3pm).

Fresh from their exploits in the Champions League against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, Brendan Rodgers’ side sit 10 points clear at the top of the table as they head to Motherwell to take on a side still reeling from the shock resignation of Stuart Kettlewell, who departed the club earlier in the week citing ‘personal abuse’ as a factor in his decision.

The return of Jota delighted the Celtic fanbase earlier this week, and those making the short trip to Motherwell will be hoping they catch a glimpse of the Portuguese fan favourite.

There was an injury scare on Friday afternoon after Kasper Schmeichel was reported to have missed training on Friday morning by Sky Sports, however, the Danish stopper is reported to be fully fit, and was just given extra recovery time following the midweek game with Aston Villa. As for Motherwell, caretaker manager Stephen Frail could be missing up to eight first team players for the game.
