Celtic starlet continues explosive start as he plays major role in team's rise to the top

The young midfielder is spending the season out on loan

Celtic’s 20-year-old midfielder Ben Summers continued his impressive scoring streak on loan at Admira Wacker as his weekend goal fired the Austrian side four points clear at the top of the league.

Admira strengthened their grip on first place thanks to Summers’ 82nd minute winner in the 1-0 win over SKU Amstetten at the weekend, which stretches their lead over Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz and Kapfenberger SV in the Admiral 2. Liga.

A product of the Celtic academy, Summers first joined the Glasgow giants at the age of seven and twice featured for the senior side under Ange Postecoglou. He first appeared on the bench during a 3-1 win over Hibs, before making his Celtic debut as an 88th minute substitute during a 4–1 away win at Kilmarnock in April 2023.

Summers has also received international recognition, having played twice for the Scotland under-21s and spent last season in the Scottish Championship with Dunfermline, starting 16 times for the Pars and scoring twice as they finished in a disappointing sixth place.

Alongside fellow Celtic youngster Matthew Anderson, he made to move to Celtic’s ‘feeder’ club in Austria on a season-long loan in September in order to gain further first team exposure.

Both players have featured regularly for the second-tier side since the move, with defender Anderson appearing in six games for the club at left-back. Summers saw his debut delayed due to work permit issues, but the 20-year-old has wasted no time in introducing himself to supporters by bagging two goals in his first two appearances - including a goal on his debut against SV Stripfing.

Contracted until the summer of 2026, Summers and Anderson are both highly-rated by the Hoops and the duo will hope they can continue to build on their impressive starts in Mödling in order to prove they are worthy of a place in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
