Bett Homes rebrands itself Avant Homes

One of Scotland’s best-known house-builders, Bett Homes, is to rebrand itself as Avant Homes.

The Stirling-based company said the decision comes two years after its parent company became Avant Homes.

David Knight, managing director of Avant Homes Scotland, said: “Our business has undergone an evolution and a transformation over the last five years. The decision to change our brand to Avant Homes is the latest in a series of important steps which support the delivery of our ambitious strategic plan.”

The firm noted that the group was acquired in December last year by a consortium of private equity companies comprising Alchemy Special Opportunities, Avenue Capital Group and Angelo, Gordon & Co, and last year achieved turnover of £244 million, building more than 1,100 homes at an average selling price of £209,000.

Avant Homes Scotland has 172 staff and currently has seven developments under construction in Dundee and across the Central Belt. It said it is continually investing in new land and recently bought sites in Denny and Haddington, which altogether will provide 396 new homes with a gross development value of £86m.

Meanwhile, trade body Homes for Scotland said its chief executive Philip Hogg is to step down in the coming months to take up a senior role in the home-building industry.

The organisation’s chairman Jim Mather said Hogg will help recruit his own successor “and, in the process, consolidate the progress that he has made for Homes for Scotland and our members in the difficult years following the financial crisis”.
