Storm Darcy: Scottish 'superwoman' rewarded with a year's free dairy products after she was spotting single-handedly pushing a milk lorry up a snowy hill

Graham’s The Family Dairy have rewarded a Scottish woman free produce for the rest of the year after an incredible video of her pushing one of their lorries up a snowy hill went viral.

Charlene Leslie lives in Cowdenbeath and was caught on film on Tuesday this week “heroically” pushing a milk lorry up a hill after it found itself stuck in the snow amid the treacherous conditions caused by Storm Darcy.

The video, which was posted on the Fife Jammer Locations Facebook page, was filmed from above by a local resident as mum-of-three Charlene optimistically offered a helping hand to the enormous vehicle as its wheels spun around on the spot.

Charlene said: "A load of people were trying to push a car up the hill when I noticed the Graham’s truck coming behind it.

"Its front wheels were spinning, and it was stuck from all the snow. My neighbour appeared, so I asked her to watch the kids and the dog while I pushed it from the back.

"Eventually it made it safely to the top.”

Charlene had been heading to the local shop with two of her children, Rihanna aged ten and Hunter aged two, along with their husky, Alaska, when she spotted the commotion on the road.

The stricken lorry had come from just a mile away in Glenfield, from the Graham's Dairy and Innovation Hub.

Charlene added: “I suppose what I did was really dangerous, but thankfully the Graham’s truck got safely up the hill. In the moment I wasn't really thinking about me, I just wanted to help.

"I would never just stand by when I see someone in trouble.”

Graham’s The Family Dairy have applauded Charlene for her effort and dedication to getting their products out, branding her a “superwoman” after they watched the “amazing” video.

“Charlene’s intentions were incredibly kind. She not only made our family, farmers and colleagues smile, but clearly captured the hearts of thousands of people across the world who also watched her help others, without a thought for her own safety.”

Mr Graham added that while she is a “real-life superwoman”, for health and safety reasons other people should be advised not to follow her actions.

As a thank-you for her efforts, Charlene and her family will be given milk and “high protein dairy products” free for the rest of the year.

Charlene can’t believe all of the attention she has received since the video went viral.

She said: “I simply believe that it is your duty to help others if they are in trouble.

"It was lovely to meet Mr Graham as I’m a huge fan of the family farming brand and their products.

"I really didn’t help out to receive anything in return, but I am absolutely delighted.”
