Glasgow serious assault: 68-year-old in hospital with life changing injury after unprovoked attack

Police in the city are appealing for witnesses after a 68-year-old man was attacked in Glasgow centre on Saturday.

The incident happened around 10.30pm on October 3.

The man was waiting at a bus stop in Jamaica Street following a night out in the city when he was approached by a younger man.

The younger man then assaulted him in what has been described as an unprovoked attack.

The victim was taken to hospital where he has been treated for what is described as a life changing injury.

Detective Constable Allyson Ferguson at Stewart Street Police Office said: “This appears to have been a totally unprovoked attack on a man waiting on his bus home after a night out.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this attack, or who has any information which could help in the investigation to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 1999 of 4 October.”
