One thing Scotland is blessed with is coastline - including islands, we have nearly 19,000 km of it to enjoy.
From castles perched atop clifftops and bustling colonies of seabirds, to perfect white sand beaches and wondrous rock formations, the Scottish coastline has it all.
And it’s pretty accessible to most of the population, with the farthest point from the sea being just 67km (that’s Glen Quoich, near Braemar, for fact fans).
For those who want to walk it there are hundreds of miles of well-maintained coastal paths to enjoy.
Here are 12 of our favourite stretches for you to enjoy this summer.

9. Prestonpans to North Berwick
This section of the John Muir Way, named after the Scotsman who founded the National Park movement, runs from Prestonpans to the resort town of North Berwick. The hefty 26km distance takes around 5 hours to complete and takes in the long beach of Seton Sands the picturesque village of Aberlady, Dirleton Castle and Yellowcraig Beach. | Canva/Getty Images

10. Kingsbarns to St Andrews
This part of the Fife Coastal path includes an inland section taking in woodland, streams and atmospheric ruined cottages, before a dramatic series of rock formations, cliffs and beaches lead you to St Andrews. | David Hepburn

11. Crail to Anstruther
We make no apology for including a third part of the glorious Fife Coastal Path in this list. The stretch between Crail and Anstruther came out top in Scotland in recent research from Which? magazine. At the end of the walk you can enjoy a snack at the famous Anstuther Fish Bar. | Canva/Getty Images

12. Dowlaw to St Abbs
Running between Dowlaw and St Abbs (also known as New Asgard to fans of superhero movies), this 10km section of the Berwickshire Coastal Path also takes in Fast Castle, the steep 500ft cliffs of Tun Law, the cove of Pettico Wick and St Abbs Lighthouse. | Canva/Getty Images
