It’s the penultimate episode in Lord Sugar’s search for his next apprentice - which means it’s interview time.

A fresh batch of candidates are competing to win a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar in the 20th series of the long-running BBC show The Apprentice.

First broadcast in the UK in February 2005, following the success of the American version featuring a certain Donald J. Trump, The Apprentice is one of the Beeb’s most successful shows.

Originally aired on BBC Two, it soon made the transition to BBC One as viewers became hooked on the tasks set by Amstrad founder Lord Sugar.

Season 20 of the show launched on Thursday, January 29, at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The first episode saw the boardroom held in Hong Kong - with Baroness Karren Brady and former winner Tim Campbell advising Lord Sugar on the suitability of the candidates.

Week two seek saw them attempt to create a children’s story book...with mixed results, while they were challenged to create a canapé based on either chicken or egg and sell it to a corporate client in week three.

Weeks four and five saw them challenged to advertise bottled water and sell flowers repectively.

Designing corporate away days in Egypt was the episode six challenge, with the next week seeing them invent a fitness virtual reality game.

In week eight they returned to the discount buying they made such a mess of in the first episode, this time on the Isle of Wight with slightly better results.

Week nine saw the always-hilarious television selling task deliver more laughs than actual sales, while last week the business wannabes designed a pet product - coming up with hi-tech dog bed and a frankly enormous (losing) ‘cat tree’.

The last entrepreneur standing will receive a cool quarter-of-a-million pound investment, along with mentorship from Lord Sugar himself.

Here’s everything you need to know about the next episode.
