Scotsman Insider has launched our inaugural Scotland 250, ranking the country’s most profitable privately owned mid-sized companies.

The annual ranking recognises high-performing businesses headquartered in Scotland, spanning sectors from manufacturing and engineering to food and drink, construction, technology and professional services.
It shines a spotlight on the companies underpinning the Scottish economy through employment, investment and sustained commercial success.
The list is independently researched and compiled using information sourced from Companies House, Experian MarketIQ and other publicly available data. To qualify, businesses must be privately owned and headquartered in Scotland, with annual turnover between £20m and £250m.
The ranking is ordered by pre-tax profitability and based on the latest available filed accounts.
The Scotland 250 programme will combine editorial coverage, networking events and an awards event, supported by HSBC, HNH, Foresight Group, Dentons and RBC Wealth Management.
All companies featured in the ranking are invited to enter the awards, which will recognise outstanding achievements across five categories, including leadership, innovation, growth and business excellence.
