Stunning new Scottish Borders retreat with indoor swimming pool and gym targets ‘high-end’ staycation market

“Opening The Grange Estate to guests is about sharing something very personal” – Nicola Williams

An exclusive-use luxury residence set within acres of open landscape in the Scottish Borders is looking to attract corporate bookings and “high-end” short stays.

Located in the village of Heriot, a 30-minute drive south of Edinburgh, The Grange Estate is a substantial private residence promising uninterrupted views down the valley towards Galashiels. The venture has been launched by Nicola Williams, an executive director and shareholder of NWH Group, the Dalkeith-based waste management and recycling business.

“This has been our family home and holds extraordinary memories for us, and because of that, absolutely nothing has been done by halves,” she said. “Every detail has been considered, and every space has been designed to feel calm, comfortable and beautifully finished.

“Opening The Grange Estate to guests is about sharing something very personal. This is a home that has been loved and thoughtfully developed to an exceptional standard, which makes it effortless and enjoyable to spend time in.”

The property itself extends to some 9,000 square feet across three levels, accommodating up to 14 guests across six bedrooms, with an additional nursery if required.

The estate includes a private leisure suite comprising a large indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and a cinema snug. Within the gated grounds are landscaped gardens, a five-a-side football pitch, a children’s play park and secure parking.

Initially, the estate will welcome corporate bookings, curated retreats and high-end short stays. The property has been designed to host leadership strategy sessions, board retreats, writers’ residencies, wellness experiences and private celebrations.

Day-to-day estate management and guest experience will be overseen by estates manager Louise Shepherd. Bookings open for May.
