Scottish Cub: Battle to reach Hampden hots up as Third Division sides enter fray

The Scottish Cup continues today with the ten Third Division sides from the SFL joining in with the 16 winners from round one and last season's champions from the Highland, East and South of Scotland Leagues.

Wick, who received a bye in the first round come in to join the action, as do Cove Rangers who were given a bye as runners up to Buckie.

Albion Rovers v Sunnybank

Albion Rovers manager Paul Martin has had a boost with Motherwell allowing loan signings Steven Meechan, Steven Lawless and Peter Innes to play in the competition, although Meechan looks set to be ruled out through injury.

North Junior champions Sunnybank will be missing Alan Clark, who has picked up a 20-game ban following an alleged assault on a referee.

Beith v Glasgow University

Striker Kenny McLean, who came off the bench last week to score the winner in the 3-2 victory over Troon, is expected to start as Beith look to progress to the to third round for the first time.

Caledonian Amateur League Premier Division side Glasgow University defeated Burntisland Shipyard 1-0 to win their first Scottish Cup tie in 35 years.

Bo'ness United v Queen's Park

Bo'ness have a doubt over defender Steven Ballantine, however everyone else in the Newtown Park squad is available.

Queen's Park welcome back Richard Sinclair and Paul McGinn along with Paul Harkins and David Murray.

Clyde v Berwick Rangers

Clyde defender Murray Henderson is banned following a suspension picked up with Stranraer last season. Marc McCusker is out injured with Ross McMillan, Ricky Waddell and Willie Sawyers all facing fitness tests.

Berwick Rangers welcome back midfielder David Greenhill from suspension and Fraser McLaren from illness.

Deveronvale v Dalbeattie Star

Magnus Barclay, Graeme Watt and Martin Skinner are all doubts for Deveronvale who lost heavily last weekend as they went down 3-0 to Lossiemouth.

Dalbeattie have won six of their seven league games so far this season conceding only three goals.

Edinburgh City v Threave Rovers

Edinburgh City have yet to win in the East of Scotland League this season, however they have only lost twice in the eight games they have played.

Threave striker Andrew Donley, who has netted 14 times this season, is set to start after being on the bench last weekend.

Elgin City v Brora Rangers

Zander Jack is ruled out for Elgin, veteran Barry Wilson requires a fitness test and Neil MacDonald is likely to miss out because of family commitments.

Brora have strengthened their pool with the signing of former Ross County youngster Robbie Stephen. Winger Scott Mackay-Steven is still out injured.

Forres Mechanics v East Stirlingshire

Forres have Neil Whyte, Scott Moore and Kyle Scott all struggling but Ricky Wardrop is included in manager Charlie Rowley's plans.

East Stirling are without Derek Ure, Craig Tully, Sean Anderson and Darren Kelly while Craig Donaldson and Stephen McGuire face fitness tests. David Dunn returns from a three-game ban.

Golspie Sutherland v Girvan

Veteran former St Mirren striker Alex Bone, 38, is a man in form after scoring six times as Golspie beat Alness 8-2 in the North Caledonian League last week.

Nairn County have David Hind available despite his sending off last weekend. Eric Watson, Jamie Buchan, Murray McCulloch and Phil Reid are all set to miss out for Cove because of injury.

Preston Athletic v Annan Athletic

Preston add Ross Colquhoun to their squad while Kevin Lee and Marc Lothian can play despite red cards last weekend.

Goalkeeper Greg Kelly and striker Graeme Bell remain out for Annan with John MacBeth an injury doubt.

Stranraer v St Cuthbert Wanderers

Highland League Champions Buckie Thistle enter the competition with a near 600-mile round trip south.
