The news was part of a double blow for coach John Dalziel as it emerged Northampton centre Rory Hutchinson will miss the rest of the competition too after he sustained an ankle injury.

World Rugby regulations state a player of Graham’s age cannot return to play within 23 days of a concussion. The Hawick wing’s magnificent try was the highlight of Scotland’s 15-10 over the Aussies in Salford. Hutchinson was on course to become Scotland’s most capped player at under-20 level during the tournament. He is currently on 23, one behind Jamie Farndale’s record
of 24.

Dalziel will today name his team to face England in their second Pool B match. Several other players are being assessed, incuding stand-off Adam Hastings who is also going through Head Injury Assessment protocols.
