Aberdeen 1 - 2 Rangers: How the players rated on each side

The 46-year-old is the heavy favourite to succeed Pedro Caixinha as the next permanent manager after the club’s board finally agreed on their ideal candidate after a five-and-a-half-week wait.

McInnes, who has been irked by the constant speculation regarding his future, has led Aberdeen to three successive second place finishes in the Ladbrokes Premiership, while also securing the 2014 League Cup.

If Rangers are successive in their attempts to lure McInnes from Pittodrie, the manager’s final two matches in the North East would have been against his new club. The Light Blues defeated their rivals 3-0 on Wednesday evening and followed it up with a 2-1 triumph on Sunday, moving ahead of Aberdeen in the table in the process.
