Glasgow Warriors see URC fixture change as new kick off time confirmed

Franco Smith’s side are set to host Ulster at Scotstoun in their first home match of the new United Rugby Championship campaign

Glasgow Warriors first home fixture of the 2026/27 URC season has had a change of kick off time following discussions with broadcasters.

Franco Smith’s side will welcome Ulster Rugby to Scotstoun in round two of the new campaign and that match will now kick off at 5.30pm on Saturday, October 3, having previously been scheduled for 7.45pm. Warriors are due to kick off the new season one week earlier against Irish opposition as they take on Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday, September 26 with that match scheduled for a 5.45pm kick off.

There’s still a few weeks to go before the competitive action gets underway and last season’s semi-finalists have lined up some strong opponents for pre-season friendlies, starting with Newcastle Red Bulls this Saturday, September 5.

Glasgow Warriors vs Ulster kick off time changed as round 2 clash to begin later than initially planned

That match is not currently planned for broadcast so Warriors fans will have to travel to Kingston Park and buy a ticket if they want to watch their side’s first outing since returning from their summer break. However, if they do decide to stay at home, they can get a sneak peak at their round two opponents with Edinburgh’s opening friendly against Ulster being shown live on Premier Sports.

That match between the two URC rivals is due to kick off at 7.45pm on Friday, September 4. Glasgow will then have a second pre-season friendly much closer to home a fortnight later against another English Premiership side.

Bath Rugby will make the trip to Scotland’s largest city with the match due to be played at Old Anniesland. The fixture is scheduled for a 7.30pm kick off on Friday, September 18.

Those contests should put Franco Smith’s side in a good position come the start of the competitive season when they travel to Ireland. They will also get another chance to see their round two opponents tested by their 1872 cup rivals in round one.

Edinburgh will kick off their URC season with the visit of Ulster to the Hive on Friday, September 25. That match is scheduled for a 7.45pm kick off and is one of three games being played that night along with Connacht vs Stormers and Benetton vs Dragons.
