And lining up alongside the world’s best players – including Scotland’s defending champion Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright – is one of the most popular faces in the game, Fallon Sherrock.

Who is Fallon Sherrock?

Born in Milton Keynes in 1994, Fallon Sherrock started playing darts at county level at the age of 17 began playing darts at the county youth level at the age of 17, before playing for the Bedford Darts Organisation, competing in the 2011 WDF Europe Cup Youth tournament for England and winning the Girls World Masters and the Women’s Jersey Open in 2012, followed by the Women's British Classic in 2013. On completing her A-levels she decided to turn down a place at university to study forensic science, opting instead to become a professional darts player.

How did Fallon Sherrock make history?

In 2019 Fallon Sherrock became the first female player to win a match at the PDC world championship, winning in the first round over Ted Evetts. Days later she became the first woman to win two successive matches at the championship, reaching the third round after beating Mensur Suljović.

At the 2021 Grand Slam of Darts she became the first woman to reach the last 16 of a major darts tournament, beating Gabriel Clemens and Mensur Suljović before losing to Peter Wright.

Later that year she became the first woman in the history of the PDC to reach the final of a TV tournament after defeating world number five Dimitri Van den Bergh in the Nordic Darts Masters. She led Michael van Gerwen 6-3 in the final before losing 11–7.

How did Fallon Sherrock qualify for the World Championships?

Sherrock qualified after the PDC last month decided to retrospectively declare that winners of the Women's World Matchplay – which Sherrock triumphed in earlier this year – would automatically earn a spot at the World Championships.

She’s one of three women to qualify for the tournament – joining four-time BDO Women's World Champion Lisa Ashton and reigning WDF Women's World Champion Beau Greaves in the first round.

When does Fallon Sherrock play?

Sherrock will play her first round match against Ricky Evans in the evening session on Tuesday, December 20, which starts at 7pm.

Who is Fallon Sherrock’s partner?

Sherrock’s partner is Scottish dart player Cameron Menzies. The 2016 British Open winner is already through to the second round of the world championships having beaten Diogo Portela 3-1 in his first round match.
