Jenny Pitman recalls ‘comedy show’

JENNY Pitman has recalled the day her Esha Ness “won” the 1993 Aintree Grand National, which was voided.

After two false starts, a large proportion of the field set off again despite being called back and several completed full four-and-a-half miles. In an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live to be broadcast tonight, Pitman calls it a “comedy show of incompetence of the highest order”. She said: “It was a complete nightmare. I knew something wasn’t quite right on the morning of the race. I just had a strange feeling and it wouldn’t leave me alone.”
