Ross County set for £400k pitch replacement
The decision to revamp the Victoria Park pitch follows comments made by Celtic assistant manager Johann Mjallby and defender Mikael Lustig, who both criticised the quality of the playing surface following the recent 1-1 draw between the two clubs.
The Staggies have unveiled plans for nearly £1.5 million in upgrades to their Highland stadium, including the replacement pitch, and are hopeful of receiving donations from fans to contribute to the total cost.

“It was dreadful. We had to go a bit more direct and that didn’t suit us.”
Swedish defender Lustig echoed his countryman’s complaints, adding that the sand-covered pitch was ‘dry and bouncy’ and claiming that European pitches were of a higher standard.
The stopper added that he felt it would be better for the Scottish game if teams were playing on better pitches.
The new pitch at Victoria Park is due to be laid over the summer - a mere 12 months after it was replaced ahead of County’s first season in Scotland’s top flight.
