It was bottom against top in South Lanarkshire as the Ibrox side looked to increase the lead over Celtic back to 23 points, with Accies four points adrift at the foot of the table.

Hamilton put in arguably their best performance of the season as they not only frustrated Steven Gerrard’s men but bettered them for large parts of the match.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard admitted that his side didn’t deserve a point and that he was relieved with the draw.

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor was a key reason why Accies failed to win.

Brian Rice’s men were aggressive, played with a high tempo and their pressing and smart running of Bruce Anderson created a number of openings.

Their seven shots on target is the highest number recorded by a team against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this campaign.

Rangers may have more attempts than Accies – 15 to 12 – they only found the target on two occasions, while having fewer corners than their opponents.

Hamilton average just over seven attempts at goal per 90 minutes and with an on target percentage of under 35 per cent.

On top of that, McGregor was forced into six saves, his busiest league match in the 2020/21 season.

The veteran goalkeeper didn’t hold back in criticising the team following the match, accusing his side of not looking like they wanted to win the game.
