The goalkeeper was far from impressed with what he saw in front of him, believing the players looked like they didn’t want to win.

Rubbish,” he told Sky Sports. “I thought for most of the game we were very, very poor. Worst I’ve seen us. A good bit of play for our goal but apart from that not a lot you can take from that.

"I didn't look like we wanted to win the game. Hamilton looked more of a threat than us which is really disappointing. All credit to them but we were so poor today.”

"I’d rather be rubbish and win,” McGregor said on his own performance.

Rangers are now 21 points ahead of Celtic and when it was posed to the 39-year-old that the performance may have come about through complacency or thinking the league title is so close he said “they shouldn’t” be thinking like that.

“They should take one game at a time, do what they need to do to win that game and then whatever happens happens,” he said.

Rangers are back in action against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
