Rangers transfer news: The 13 players linked with a move to Ibrox this month

Rangers have built on their stellar start to the season with a transfer window that has shown plenty of promise.

A pre-contract agreement has been struck with Aberdeen winger Scott Wright, while similar deals for Bournemouth duo Jack Simpson and Nnamdi Ofoborh look to be in the offing too.

The Gers have made a habit out of that kind of deal in recent seasons, and we’ve even seen them bring forward the arrival of certain players by paying a nominal fee up front.

Glen Kamara is perhaps the best example of how that approach can pay dividends, and speculation remains rife as to whether or not they could look to replicate the Finn’s arrival with any of the three playes that they are currenlty in for.

Aside from that trio, however, Steven Gerrard’s men have been linked with a whole host of players, ranging from Premier League stars to up-and-coming EFL starlets.

A number of reported targets, such as Preston North End’s Daniel Johnson and Sheffield United’s John Lundstram, are at the centre of uncertainty surrounding their contract situations at their current clubs, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see rumours linking them to Ibrox rumble on until the summer.

Lundstram in particular appears to be a player who appears to be generating some excitement.

Former Scotland defender Alan Hutton, for instance, has talked the prospect of him signing for the Gers, telling Football Insider that he believes his arrival would be a real coup for Gerrard.

He said: “We’re talking about a Premier League player here. I know, obviously, he’s had contract problems down south and he’s not signed a new deal.

“I think he’s a fantastic midfielder. He was one of their [Sheffied United’s] best players last season.

"So he’s a guy that definitely improves the squad.”

In the more immediate future, there are also a few players who still look as if they would be more viable as January transfers, whether that be for the Gers or for the host of other sides who are said to be tracking them.
