Rangers reaction: Danilo's weather report, James Bisgrove's column, high-five mascot move unlikely against Celtic

Rangers picked up their first domestic win over the season with a 4-0 triumph over Livingston at Ibrox.

We pick out three “extras” from what was an important win for Rangers ahead of their trip to Switzerland next week:

Danilo takes the weather with him

A smiling Danilo was presented to the assembled media after scoring his first goal for the club. He was quizzed on a variety of topics before the weather came up. The forward may be used to better weather in Brazil but surely the Netherlands has a similar climate to Scotland, even if this summer has been a particularly wet one on these shores. “Sometimes you get three weathers in the one day in pre-season,” he smiled. “It’s part of the job. I really love this weather. Sometimes there is sun and you’re happy but you have to be happy when it rains. Scotland is a nice place and playing for Rangers is the most special thing.”

Chief executive speaks

New Rangers chief executive James Bisgrove penned the first of his columns in the matchday programme for the visit of Livingston. We can expect to hear more from Bisgrove in this format. “This column will become a regular feature,” he wrote. “I hope you find it informative as we make our way what we hope will be a successful season.” In this chapter, he outlined the changes the club have made on and off the field, thanked the fans for their unwavering support and dropped in the launch of the ‘Menu by Gordon Ramsay’ at Ibrox. Apparently it was a sell-out for this match. Per person it costs a cool £450, and you need a minimum of two people per table booking. What do you get for your moolah? Well, a three-course meal from menus prepared by Ramsay with a selection of wines, spirits and prosecco, half-time refreshments, a free post-match bar and executive match seating.

Mascot madness

Since when did mascots get in on the pre-match handshakes? There were three Broxi bears on the pitch at kick-off and they even got high-fives from the Livingston players. Wonder if they’ll get the same treatment from Celtic players when they visit at the start of next month …
