Rangers aimed to go nine points clear of Celtic at Rugby Park, Kilmarnock in the SPFL Premiership lunchtime kick-off.
The Hoops are in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final with Aberdeen this afternoon giving Steven Gerrard’s side the chance to extend their command at the top of the table.
James Tavernier gave them the lead from the penalty spot and there was yet another clean sheet for the Glasgow side who ultimately stretched their advantage to nine points – but Kilmarnock restricted the visitors to a single goal and it was a nervy ending to the afternoon with the home side pressing for an equaliser that didn’t come.
Scale - 10: One of the best performances you've seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: A terrible day at the office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of the worst performances you've seen.
Quiet and out of sorts again. Looks like he needs a goal to re-ignite his early season spark. Second-half shot saved by Rogers lacked conviction. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
Bright but crowded out on the right flank. Has something to offer and showed capable flashes but probably needs more minutes to find his lengthy stride. Denied by great save close in by Rogers. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
Unselfish show from the striker moving the Killie defence around and creating openings for his team-mates. Couldn't add to his 11 goalsls against Killie and ran off a freak injury early in the game. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
Another three points and another rotated team to manage the squad with domestic and European endeavours in mind. Testament to his signings the team never looks eakened when change is implemented. Photo: Rob Casey - SNS Group
