One from Josh Doig (Hibs), Lewis Ferguson (Aberdeen), Nathan Patterson (Rangers) and David Turnbull (Celtic) will be crowned the 20th winner of the prestigious title since its inception in season 2001-02.
Across the two decades there have been 16 different names on the trophy – with only two players winning the award on more than one occasion.
Originally open to any player who played in Scotland under the age of 23, the criteria was changed in 2019, restricting the award to players who are eligible for selection by the Scotland national under-21 football team.
Of all the previous winners, all but five either played for Rangers and Celtic, or went on to play for them at some point in their careers, but the club with most individual award winners is Hibs, with three different players collecting the award while at Easter Road.
