England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed his provisional squad for Euro 2024.

England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed his provisional squad for the European Championships in Germany next month - with Jack Butland missing out.

Ahead of the tournament, the Three Lions will face two friendlies against Bosnia and Iceland before jetting off to Germany and Southgate has announced a 33-man squad ahead of the warm up games at St. James Park and Wembley.

Rangers goalkeeper Butland has been in outstanding form at Ibrox this year and was nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award alongside his team mate James Tavernier, which led to calls for the 31-year-old to be restored to the England set up.

Already capped nine times by the Three Lions, there were strong rumours Butland would be included in the England squad for the March friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, however, the Rangers goalkeeper was not handed an international recall.

"When I found out I wasn't in the squad it was just back to normal, continue trying to do what I have been doing at Rangers,” said Butland in the aftermath of the snub. “I've worked hard enough, I've done enough and whatever decision will be,” he added.

Southgate has instead opted to call up goalkeepers Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale, Dean Henderson and James Trafford instead of Butland, with one of the four stoppers likely to be axed from the final squad in the coming weeks.

Jordan Henderson, Marcus Rashford and Ben Chilwell have also been omitted from Southgate’s squad ahead of next month’s tournament, which begins on June 14 when Scotland face hosts Germany in Munich. Meanwhile, uncapped quartet Jarrad Branthwaite, Curtis Jones, Jarell Quansah and Adam Wharton have all been included.
