Issues around finances, travel and the Covid-19 pandemic has led to the quietest trading period for a long while with very little high-profile movements across the continent.
That hasn’t stopped a whole host of speculation though with a variety of clubs and suitors said to be eyeing the talent in the Scottish Premiership, and a few clubs linked with recruiting elsewhere.
Rangers signed Scott Wright on a pre-contract deal, but Steven Gerrard has cautioned against expectations of further recruitment – and insisted that there would be no outgoings from Ibrox.
There hasn’t been any such statement from across the city, where star French striker Odsonne Edouard has continued to be linked with a move away from Celtic.
There may not be sales, they may not welcome the interest, but the managers may be unable to stop admiring glances being made at their top-performing players.
After a quieter than usual start to the year, here’s a look at the 11 Old Firm players who could attract some interest in the final few days of the January transfer window as unlikely as moves may, or may not, turn out to be.

. Odsonne Edouard
Is there a club he hasn't been linked with over the past six months? AC Milan last month, Real Madrid, Juventus and Arsenal linked last week. This week it's West Ham and Leicester again. Big clubs, but it'll need to be a big bid for Celtic's prized asset. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

5. Glen Kamara
What a mark-up it will be when the Finn finally moves on - but with the Euros on the horizon and a big performance on a big stage anticipated, only a big, big bid could even tempt Rangers this month - and they'll still be keen to keep him for the run-in with a whole number of European clubs monitoring the midfielder. 6. Ryan Christie
Rumoured interest in the autumn linked the Scotland hero with a switch to the English Premier League with Southampton, Arsenal or Newcastle. Has had spells of red-hot form this season, but could Celtic be tempted to cash in during the attacking midfielder's cold spell and James Forrest on the way back? Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

7. Greg Stewart
Mentioned as a possible make-weight to speed-up Scott Wright's transfer from Aberdeen, forward could move on to gain more game minutes with just 115 registered this season, and one start. Photo: SNS Group

8. Olivier Ntcham
Rumoured to be close to leaving in the last transfer window, £4.5m 2017 signing Ntcham has barely been seen in recent months, playing just 157 minutes in that time. Porto have held a long-term interest in the midfielder and Lyon have also been linked in his homeland. Southampton were also reportedly keen in the autumn. Photo: Craig Williamson - SNS Group
