Steve Clarke leads Scotland into another vital international and it is a familiar foe – Israel – in wait at sold out Hampden.

Last month’s wins over Moldova and Austria not only ensured Scotland occupy second spot in the World Cup qualifying section and ruled Grant Hanley out through suspension, it also sparked a national ticket rush for this evening's match.

There’s now no briefs left so the only way to keep up with the game for those not at the National Stadium in Mount Florida, is on TV, radio or here at The Scotsman’s live blog.

Scotland 3-2 Israel: How it Happened

Key Events

  • Scotland move four points clear of Israel in second with three games - and nine points - still to play for
  • SCOTLAND 3 (McGinn 28, Dykes 62, McTominay 90+3) ISRAEL 2 (Zahavi 5, Dabbur 31)
  • Stunning free-kick from playmaker silences Hampden after five minutes. McGinn curls in a leveller but Dabbur responds almost immediately
  • Lyndon Dykes penalty saved before half-time but striker nets VAR-assisted goal in second half but McTominay wins it late
  • SCOTLAND: Gordon, Patterson, Hendry, Tierney, McTominay, Robertson, McGinn, Gilmour, McGregor, Adams, Dykes.

Hampden - from going berserk - has now deflated again.

It was an excellent finish from McGinn - his tenth in ten home games according to Sky commentator Ian Crocker - but all that hard work in equalising has been undone so quickly.

Steve Clarke warned his side not to undo the good work done in Austria, but they have it all to do to restore parity and even get ahead at Hampden.

Billy Gilmour zips into the box to seize possession as the ball is knocked out by Marciano and is scythed down by Natcho. The Israelis complain it was outside the box and crowd Billy Gilmour.

But the referee gives a penalty.

It’s Dykes v Marciano....

Marciano kicks out Dykes’ penalty - fired straight down the middle. Looked easy for the former Hibs goalie.

Dykes went central in Vienna and it worked - just. Not this time.

Scotland 1 Israel 2 it remains.

Whether you’re in the pie queue at Hampden or waiting for the game to restart at home or work - here’s Aidan Smith’s Saturday interview with Scotland gret Frank Gray

It’s Scotland 1 Israel 2

Not a first half of much quality at Hamoden from a Scotland perspective.

Israel get the second half underway

Che Adams is sharp to nip onto a loose backpass and fires a low drive at the front post that is knocked out for a corner. Scott McTominay clatters Marciano though and it’s a free-kick to Israel two yards from the goal-line.

Classy play from Billy Gilmour almost carved open a chance on the right but Israel keep it out.
