Faroe Islands 0 - 1 Scotland: Dykes goal puts team within a win of World Cup play-off spot - as it happened
The Tartan Army have bounced into Torshavn for the match at the Tórsvøllur Stadium following Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 defeat win over Israel, courtesy of Scott McTominay’s stoppage-time goal.
Three points will be a huge step towards securing second place having won the last three World Cup qualifiers with Austria and Moldova having been dispatched before the Israel’s pitched up at a packed and partisan Hampden Park.

There has been an increased intensity to the play but still a lack of quality. Gestsson has not been tested in the Faroes goal.
McTominay’s runs
Once again the Manchester United midfielder broke from deep but his finish was wayward.

Well, this hasn’t been enjoyable. Tense, frustration and somewhat of a struggle.
Scotland are very lucky not to be behind in Torshavn with the home side the better side, creating the best opportunities.
The team have lacked any sort of fluidity and rhythm. Billy Gilmour has shown flashes but it has been interspersed with slack play from midfielder partner Scott McTominay.
Dykes has struggled to link effectively with Christie and John McGinn, while Ryan Fraser was brought into the team to provide an attacking outlet and someone who would provide the front three with ammunition from wide. That hasn’t happened.
Scotland have looked their best through Tierney and Robertson with runs in behind the right hand side of the Faroes defence.
Scotland’s best performer has been Craig Gordon. Not only did he make a splendid save down to his right but he also held a difficult free kick towards the end of the half.
A big improvement required.

Ryan Christie will be suspended for the visit to Chisinau after picking up a yellow card.

Tierney with a brilliant piercing pass to find the run of Christie but Nattestad was in position to cut out the cut back.

A huge let-off for Scotland as Craig Gordon produces a wonderful save as another long ball causes issues in the visiting defence. A rebound was blocked before, minutes later, another effort was headed over by Nattestad.
Scotland chance
McGinn pounces on a loose ball from a knockdown and slides a great pass into an onrushing McTominay but his shot was repelled by goalkeeper Gestsson and out for a corner.
