Dundee player tests positive for Covid-19 as Dens Park club reports third case in two months

A member of Dundee’s playing squad has tested positive for Covid-19, the club has confirmed.

It is the third positive case to affect the Dens Park club in two months after two individuals returned positive tests in quick succession during the first week of November last year.

Across the street, the whole of Dundee United's first-team coaching-staff plus nine first-team players were forced into self-isolation last month.

A statement from the Dark Blues read: “The club can confirm that a member of our playing squad has tested positive for Covid-19.

“He is currently self isolating in line with all government guidelines.

“In accordance with current Covid regulations both the SFA and SPFL have been informed.”

Dundee are due to take on Lowland League side Bonnyrigg Rose in the Scottish Cup tomorrow evening but as things stand that fixture is expected to proceed as planned with no suggestion the game is at risk of postponement.
