Griffiths has been in and out of Neil Lennon’s team at Parkhead this season but still found the net seven times.
Riordan believes the fans would welcome a third stint with the club for Griffiths who has scored 39 times across two spells in Edinburgh, and despite Kevin Nisbet hitting 13 goals so far this term Riordan reckons the Celtic and Scotland man is just what’s needed.
He said: “I think they definitely need to bring a striker in. I'd prefer Griffiths myself if they could get him, being honest.”
Hibs have been linked with Ross County forward Ross Stewart, but Sunderland have opened talks with the Staggies, according to reports and Aberdeen are also keen.
Riordan, speaking to the Edinburgh Football Show podcast added: "We definitely need another striker in.
“I saw wee rumours about Griffiths going to Hibs, but I don't know if that's a lot of rubbish or not.
“He gets you off your seat. You always think he's got a good chance of scoring as soon as he gets the ball out of his feet.
“I think that's something we've lacked for a while - probably since the last time he was at Hibs.”
Meanwhile, Hibs left-back Josh Doig is also subject of speculation with reports linking Leeds, Manchester City and Celtic with an interest in the teen defender.
