Hibs Ladies out to unravel Paisley pattern still further

HIBERNIAN Ladies will embark on a journey tomorrow that they hope will take them all the way to a record sixth Scottish Cup success.

No club in the women’s game has enjoyed more success than the Easter Road girls in the national cup competition – an ironic contrast to their male counterparts’ record in the Scottish Cup.

Hibs face Paisley Saints Ladies at Albyn Park, Broxburn (kick-off 2.00pm) and are confident to piling on more misery for their lower league opponents.

Paisley were beaten on penalty kicks by Queen’s Park in the SWFL First Division Cup final during the week and now the girls in green are hoping to ensure yet more cup heartache for their opponents.

Hibs boss Willie Kirk commented: “We certainly won’t underestimate them and although they may play in a lower division than ourselves, we know they have the players that can hurt us.

“As a club, they are heading in the right direction and were promoted last season from the regional Second Division.

Elsewhere, Hutchison Vale takes on Celtic Reserves at Barrowfield, Glasgow (kick-off 4.00pm) and Spartans are already through to the next round without kicking a ball after opponents Dee Ladies failed to raise a team.
