Vladimir Romanov hails John McGlynn impact and praises blooding of youth

HEARTS owner Vladimir Romanov heaped praise on new manager John McGlynn in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, writes Moira Gordon.

Romanov took heart from seeing his capital side, which was assembled at a cost of around £50,000, matching a Liverpool team worth around £100 million.

“I’m always happy when the manager allows young players to play so it’s been good to see that,” Romanov said. “The whole team played well, thanks to the manager.”

Having shaken hands with and congratulated every player individually, the majority shareholder also sat down with McGlynn.

“It’s the first time I’ve sat down with him in person since I took the job,” revealed McGlynn.

Romanov couldn’t resist a pop at Ranager, saying “maybe football will be much cleaner” without the Ibrox side in the SPL.
