Aberdeen have a European place secured however they can get taken over in second place and it would be fair to say that the Dons have been drained of energy since their Scottish League Cup win.

Wins for Motherwell against Inverness and Aberdeen will see them sit immediately below a Celtic side that despite being champions have scored 11 times in their last two games.

Credit must go to relegated Hearts have scored seven goals in their last two games - both victories.

In the Championship the helicopter landed in Dundee as the Dark Blues clinched the title with a 2-1 win over Dumbarton. Hamilton and Falkirk do at least have the soft landing of going for promotion in the play-offs along with Queen of the South.

As for Cowdenbeath and Morton at the foot it is fair to say that they both had a bad Saturday.

Stranraer and Ayr finally got there in terms of the League 1 play-offs however Arbroath are down and East Fife live to fight another day.

League 2 champions Peterhead rounded things off with a win and Stirling won a play-off place after an impressive run to the end to their season.

Good week for – Dundee

The Dark Blues are back in the top flight of Scottish football after just one year out with their first title success since 1998. Their win over Dumbarton was of the edgy variety as the game wore on, however Dens Park will host Premiership football next season.

There will also be another derby in the top flight to go alongside the Partick Thistle and Celtic one.

Bad week for – Cowdenbeath and Morton

One side suffered cruel heart-break whereas the other suffered embarrassment. Cowdenbeath looked to have kept hold of their Championship status with a 1-0 win at home to Queen of the South.

However one injury time flick of the boot from Bob McHugh and they were in the play-offs and Alloa were safe.

Morton on the other hand waved goodbye to the Championship. They needed both hands to wave and keep the score as they went down 10-2 to Hamilton Accies.

Team of the week – Hamilton Accies

The Accies did all they could and more to catch Dundee at the top of the Championship. They beat Morton 5-1 in each half for a combined 10-2 win that matched their club record which was set back in 1932.

Mickael Antoine-Curier grabbed four goals, Tony Andreu scored a first half hat trick, Louis Longridge and Mikey Devlin both netted , with Morton defender Stuart Findlay scoring an own goal.

It must have been a sea of mixed emotions in the dressing room at New Douglas Park afterwards.

Manager of the week – Paul Hartley (Dundee)

Three seasons as a manager and three promotions in that time for Paul Hartley. The 37 year old led Alloa out of Division 3 and 2 and has now added the Championship title with Dundee to his list of achievements 3 months after replacing John Brown.

The Wasps also stayed up in part to the 28 points gained during Hartley’s stint there.

Premiership Player of the week – Ryan Stevenson (hearts)

Whether it was the desire to get the better of Kilmarnock held over from his days at Ayr United or it was just a right good day at the Office but Ryan Stevenson won the Premiership Player of the week.

Stevenson drilled home a free kick and then forced in a Jake Nicolson cross before completing his hat-trick before half-time.

The second half was fairly dazzling as well as Stevenson set up two goals as Hearts ran out 5-0 winners.

Premiership Goal of the week – Gregg Wylde (St Mirren)

It was a close run thing between Wylde and Aberdeen’s Shay Logan. Both players cut inside from the left and out-foxed a couple of defenders before sending in thumping finishes from 25 yards out.

Wylde’s just shades Logan’s effort as it was hit with a bit more ferocity and also it won a vital relegation game.

Championship Player of the week – Mickael Antoine-Curier

Antione-Curier scored four times as Hamilton ran more than riot against Morton in their 10-2 success. The striker opened and closed the scoring and scored two of the ten goals in-between as the Accies pulled to within a point and a goal of Dundee.

Hamilton will be hoping the Guadeloupe international has kept some goals for the play-offs.

Championship Goal of the week – Dougie Imrie (Morton)

The tweet of the season probably belongs to @Morton_FC who proudly boasted ‘GOAL TO MORTON!! 7-2! Imrie possibly our Goal of the Season.’

A rose was certainly found in amongst thorns by Imrie; in fact two roses were found, as the former Hamilton player scored both their goals.

Imrie’s second goal was probably struck the better and picks up this week’s Award.

League 1 Player of the week – Craig Malcolm (Ayr United)

The striker calmed Ayr’s nerves with a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over East Fife. Malcolm scored the game’s first three goals and helped the Honest Men finally secure their play-off place.

After spending all season in the top four everyone at Ayr was glad Malcolm took control of the situation and eased them through the play-off gates.

League 1 Goal of the week – Caolan McAleer (Airdrie)

McAleer took out a hammer and put the final nail into Arbroath’s League 1 coffin with the first goal in the Diamonds’ 2-0 success over the Red Lichties.

With the Gayfield men needing a positive result to have any chance of surviving McAleer broke the deadlock with a thumping striker after a Keighan Parker effort broke into his path.

League 2 Player of the week – Jordan White (Stirling Albion)

White and Stirling are blossoming at the right time of the season. The striker grabbed a double as Stirling secured their play-off place and jumped over Clyde and into third spot with Saturday’s 4-2 success over the Bully Wee.

The big striker who has had spells at Dunfermline and Falkirk should look to shine in the play-offs in order that interest in him is stepped up.

League 2 Goal of the week – Lee Currie (Berwick Rangers)

It would not be the Scotsman Weekly Website Awards without a mention of Lee Currie. The Berwick midfielder showed his expertise with a dead ball again at the weekend as he sent a 30 yard free kick around the visiting Peterhead wall and then low into the corner of Graeme Smith’s net.

Do not be surprised to see Lee Currie win more awards next season but at a higher level.
