Rangers slash ticket prices for play offs

RANGERS could face further wranglings with the SPFL as they slash the price of tickets for the play-offs to £5.

The club had originally wanted to give season ticket holders free tickets to their play-off match against Queen of the South but league bosses blocked the plans who claimed it infringed their guidelines.

The SPFL’s stance appears to have backfired as Rangers’ latest offer could now cost the SPFL up to £300,000.

SPFL chairman Ralph Topping has reportedly accused the Ibrox board of having a “pick and mix” approach to the rules. (The Scottish Sun)

Robbie Neilson faces dugout ban

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson could be watching his team play their first matches in the top flight from the stands at the start of next season instead of the dugout.

The Jambos boss stands accused by the SFA of using “offensive, insulting and abusive language” in the Tynecastle side’s 2 - 2 draw with Rangers last weekend when referee Callum Murray sent Neilson to the stands.

Bilel Mohsni the first to go from Ibrox

Bilel Mohsni could be the first departure from Rangers this summer.

The Tunisian defender - who has not made an appearance since the Ibrox side’s 3 - 0 defeat to Queen of the South in April - is out of a contract with the club at the end of the season.

Mohsni’s agent is reportedly sending out feelers to clubs across Europe.

Despite a good season last year, the player’s performance this season has been questioned. (Evening Times)

Radoslaw Cierzniak set to leave Dundee United

It could be all change at Dundee United next season as the Tangerines’ goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak looks set to leave Tannadice in the summer.

Sean Dillon and Calum Butcher are reportedly poised to stay at the club.

Polish No 1 Cierzniak is out of a contract at the end of the season. Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara has revealed the keeper may be looking for a challenge outside of Scotland.

Cierzniak has made 108 appearances since joining United in 2012. (The Scotsman)

Aberdeen captain Russell Anderson retires

Dons skipper Russell Anderson has announced that he is to hang up his boots but is reportedly going to retain a behind the scenes role.

The Aberdeen legend has made more than 400 appearances for the club.

He told the club’s official website: ““It was announced this evening that I am retiring from playing at the end of the current season but will be remaining at the club in a role behind the scenes. It’s obviously a huge wrench to stop playing, and a decision that has not been taken lightly, but the time just felt right.

“I would like to thank the fans for their fabulous support during both of my spells at the club, it really is hugely appreciated.” (Daily Record)

Queen of the South hoping to gatecrash the Premiership

Dumfries Championship side Queen of the South are hoping to cause some upsets when they meet Rangers in the play offs.

Defender Andy Dowie has reportedly claimed that the Palmerston side are not wanted in the Premiership - and that could prove to be the ultimate motivation in their play off campaign against Rangers.

Dowie said he believes that current Premiership chairmen and owners are fervently hoping he and his team-mates will fail.
