It was the first goalless Edinburgh derby since 2009 and has been criticised for being a dull affair but which players shone at Easter Road last night?

HIBERNIAN

Ben Williams

Fantastic double save at the start of second half, but survived major scare in dying minutes when he flapped at one of Hearts’ many corners allowing Sutton to head against the bar. 7/10

Tim Clancy

Fortunate to escape early booking for lunge on McHattie, and had a busy evening with most of the play unfolding down his side. 7/10

Ryan McGivern

Booked for mis-timed tackle on Driver in the 71st minute. Popped up on the six-yard line to block Holt’s effort with Williams for once beaten, and was generally solid when Hibs came under pressure. 7/10

Paul Hanlon

First booking of the match for cutting down Novikovas on the egde of the box. Dealt well with balls thrown into the box. 7/10

James McPake

Could have been penalised when he bundled Robinson over in the box, but escaped as Driver scrwed the ball wide. Commanding display and maybe just edged his battle with Sutton. 7/10

Tom Taiwo

Busy, but never got to grips with the game in such a way that he could become a creative force for Hibs. 5/10

Gary Deegan

The most eye-catching of the Hibs midfielders, and his fitness is returning. 6/10

Paul Cairney

Had the first attempt on target in the match when shot tamely at MacDonald. Wonderful 54th minute ball to play in Doyle, who should have done so much better, but taken off by Fenlon moments later. 6/10

Eoin Doyle

Passed up wonderful opportunity early in the second half when sent clear by Cairney. 6/10

Leigh Griffiths

Worked hard and almost came good at the endwhen McGowan blocked. 7/10

Rather harshly booked for simulation when he appeared to be clipped by Taouil during left-wing run. Glanced header just wide from belated Hibs corner. 4/10

Lewis Stevenson (for Taiwo 73)

Little time to make any real kind of impact. 3/10

Jamie MacDonald

Was in command of his area and was rarely troubled by any direct attempts on goal. 7/10

Darren Barr

Worked hard throughout and was always on hand to help out a team-mate when required. 7/10

Kevin McHattie

The young left-back read the game well and put in an important clearance to deny Doyle a shooting chance. 7/10

Dylan McGowan

Playing at centre-half in place of Andy Webster, who was ruled out with flu, the young Australian saved the day at with a late clearance. 8/10

Marius Zaliukas

The captain rarely put a foot wrong and was a commanding presence at the heart of the home defence. 7/10

Scott Robinson

Battled tenaciously in midfield and thought he should have been given a penalty after an incident 
with McPake. 6/10

Ryan Stevenson

Fortunate not to be shown a yellow card at least after sliding in with studs showing in a challenge for possession with

James McPake. 7/10

Mehdi Taouil

Tried to impose himself on midfield, but found it hard to control a game which had little order to it. 6/10

Andrew Driver

A threat to Hibs despite never being at his most incisive. 7/10

Arvydas Novikovas

Began brightly with a series of runs down the right, but on a heavy pitch and in a hard-fought game he found it hard to produce his best form. 6/10

John Sutton

Held his own against the Hibs defence playing as a lone striker, at least in the air. 7/10

Jason Holt

The midfielder came on for Robinson after 47 minutes, and came close to breaking the deadlock in the closing minutes. 6/10

Callum Paterson

On for Novikovas after 66 minutes, the teenager showed his usual commitment, but was unable to make much difference. 6/10

Jamie Walker

Took over from Driver for the final five minutes, and had several runs which worried the Hibs defence. 6/10
