Both strips are sponsored by the Save the Children charity, and are influenced by the Puma firm’s iconic kits from the 1970s and 1980s.

The unique kits carry the ‘traditional Hearts maroon’, according to the club, and will be on sale from July 7.

A statement on the Tynecastle club’s website read: “Due to the club’s historic partnership with Save the Children, these stunning new kits have seen a slightly later than usual launch and release date.

“Despite this, the club feels the time spent to be justifiable given the special circumstances surrounding the groundbreaking partnership, and fully believes the kits are worth the wait.”

Supporters were generally happy with the kits, with one fan tweeting: “New kits are relatively basic, just the way I like a Hearts kit! Not too much going on but a deep shade of maroon and white away kit.”

Another added: “The new Hearts tops are surprisingly nice, away one is so much nicer though.”
