Hearts: Three more leave Tynecastle

HEARTS have announced the departures of Stephen Elliott, Gary Glen and Jordan Morton after they were told they would not be offered new deals when their contracts expire in the coming weeks.

Elliott started Saturday’s 5-1 Hampden success over Hibs and has been a regular since arriving from Preston in 2010, scoring 11 goals. In an article on the club’s official website, the Irishman said: “I have had a great couple of years here and to go out in that manner was just amazing. I’m leaving with a Scottish Cup winner’s medal so I would have to say my time here has been a success.”

Glen, 22, who scored seven goals for the club, added: “It was great to go out on such a high and I’d like to wish the lads the best of luck for next season. I’d like to thank the fans for their support during my time at the club and I’m now looking forward to taking the next step in my career.”

Hearts had previously announced the departures of midfielders Ian Black, Adrian Mrowiec and David Obua as they look to cut costs while Rudi Skacel said he was 99 per cent certain he was leaving after hitting two goals against Hibs at Hampden.

Striker Craig Beattie is also out of contract but he hopes to have talks with the club after impressing since joining from Swansea in February. Beattie, who was restricted to a substitute role against Hibs because of a tight hamstring, said: “I I’m going to sit down now over the next couple of weeks and see what offers are there. I’m certainly going to speak to Hearts.”
