Ngoo has a shoulder problem and Wilson a thigh injury, with both players unable to train fully this week. Locke wants them available against Hibs, but stressed today that he will take no risks with the on-loan Liverpool pair.

“We’re hoping they will train at some point before Sunday,” he said. “Danny has a thigh problem and, if you push him too early, it could go again. Michael is a bit different so we’re hoping they will train. If they do, they’ll both be in

contention for the weekend.”

Locke explained the importance of continuing last week’s form following the 3-0 victory over St Mirren. “There’s no bigger game for us than the Edinburgh derby,” he continued. “Winning last weekend gives us a slight chance of finishing seventh and that’s all we’ve been focusing on. We want to finish as high as we can and put behind us what has been a pretty disappointing season.

“I was really pleased with the whole team performance last week. I said to the players that we’ve set a standard now. We will get inconsistency with young players in the team, but it was a positive day for the whole football club. Maybe some fans were there last week who hadn’t been along for a while. Hopefully they’ve seen some young boys, and some experienced players as well, who all did well on the day.”
