Hearts’ Remembrance Service to be held at Haymarket

HEARTS’ annual Remembrance Service will be held at Haymarket later this month after taking place at Tynecastle in 2009 and 2010 because of tram works in the city centre. The service, on Sunday, 13 November, will be held in Grosvenor Street, the closest suitable area to the site of the Hearts War Memorial before its temporary removal.

The Salvation Army band will march to Grosvenor Street from the junction of Dalry Road and Caledonian Road at 10:45am, with the service due to start at 11am. There will be a recital from Hearts midfielder Ryan Stevenson, both the first-team squad and the under-19s will attend, and representatives from Hibernian, Falkirk and Raith Rovers are also expected to be there.

“While the situation and environment at Haymarket is not ideal, we did feel as a club it was extremely important to return to the home of the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial,” a spokesman for the club.
